Thy Kingdom Come (10th May to 20th May)

We seek to join with Christians across the United Kingdom s we “wait for the power from on high” by committing ourselves to 11 days of prayer  from Ascension (10th May) to Pentecost (20th May).

We are providing a delightful booklet “Waiting in Wonder” and a Prayer Journal to encourage as many people as possible to join in.

We can pray anytime and anywhere, but it is always good to get together: you are always welcome to join our prayer meeting which meets at the church on Tuesday Morning at 10:30.
The Monday Night Praise on 14th May at 7:30pm will have the theme of “Thy Kingdom Come”
and/or we would encourage you to meet up with friends and family to pray.

I am also happy to send out an e-mail to remind you to pray – just send an e-mail request to denise.binks@gmail.com

Please let me know by e-mail or phone 01747 854631 if you are taking part.

Christian Aid Lunch.

As the St James lunch had to be cancelled due to the snow, thereby losing one weeks takings it is thought it only right that another one should be organised to make up for it and since then another opportunity has presented itself.  The lunch will take place on Wednesday 16th May (during CA Week), in the Town Hall at the usual time.  You are probably all aware that two Syrian refugee families have been recently found accommodation in Shaftesbury and they are keen to become part of the community. They’ve been invited to join us for this lunch and to contribute something to the fare and I’m delighted to say they have accepted with enthusiasm.  Fridays are not convenient for them because it’s their day of prayer, so we’re hoping this won’t make a difference to attendance.  Although St James, St John’s and Fathers House will be responsible for the organisation, we are hoping that other committee members who are free will come along to meet and greet these families. We do hope you will be able to come.

Walking Group – Saturday, 26th May 2018

OK, so we have had a few problems with the weather, but our next walking group will be held on Saturday, 26th May 2018. All are welcome to join us and we usually finish at a pub so that people can stop for lunch if  they so wish. Full details will appear on the notice board and in the notices nearer to the day.  All are welcome (including dogs).
